The
revelation of the day (Feb 19) is that U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak was offered a government job if he dropped his candidacy against Arlen Specter in the Democratic U.S. Senate race. Sestak told veteran newsman Larry Kane that he was approached by someone at the White House who mentioned a job, but he turned them down. He refused to elaborate. Sestak's interview with Kane is due to air Sunday at 9:30 a.m. on the Comcast network. Aside from the gossip value, the incident highlights the fears of Democratic officials about the Specter candidacy. They keep going around the state saying Sestak cannot win. If he cannot win, why are they trying to get him out of the race?
