The Harrisburg Patriot reports that former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum is making trips to Iowa and New Hampshire in the coming weeks to test support for a run for President in 2012. (It seems like far away, but you have to plan ahead.)  Santorum, defeated in his bid for re-election by Bob Casey in 2006, has been spending most of his time in Washington, D.C., where he is a senior fellow at something called the Ethics and Public Policy Center. He also writes a regular column for the Inquirer, which he uses to excoriate President Obama and predict that current American policies will lead to perdition. Interesting question: Given the potential Republican field in the 2012 primary season, will Santorum be considered the moderate?
