$epta Wants Fare Increases

| Comments
SEPTA wants to raise the cost of using mass transit by raising fares on buses, trolleys and trains by an average of six percent.  The cost of a token would go up from $1.45 to $1,55 under the proposal. The cost of a transfer would rise from 75 cents to $1 dollar.  The transit authority wants the new fares to go into effect July 1.  It plans hearings on the request within the next month.
