Rick Santorum continues to mix it up with his former friend and colleague Arlen Specter. At a conservative conference on Saturday, the Santorum
said that he endorsed Specter in 2004 in exchange for a promise that Specter would vote for future court nominees made by President Bush. Specter denies the charge, but his opponent in the Democratic primary, Joe Sestak, is making merry with it because it plays into his theme that Specter is just another pol who will do anything to stay in office. Santorum's endorsement of Specter came at a crucial moment in 2004. The senator, then a Republican, was locked in a tough primary fight with conservative Pat Toomey. Santorum cut an ad for Specter and campaigned for him. Specter beat Toomey in the by just 17,000 votes.
