I-80 Smackdown

| Comments
The feds have rejected the state's plan to make Interstate 80 a toll road, blowing a $470 million hole in the budget for transportation projects.  The ruling Tuesday (April 7) will impact on road and bridge projects across the state, plus SEPTA and other mass transit agencies.  Gov. Rendell said he would call a special session of the legislature to fill the gap and there is talk of increasing the state's gas tax, motor registration fees and (gulp) real estate transfer fees.
