Don't Blame Me...

blame that fellow behind three. In eight words, that is the gist of former DA Lynne Abraham's testimony Monday (May 3) before a committee looking into the high dismissal rate in Philadelphia courts.  Abraham said it was the fault of judges, of defense lawyers who "game the system" of perps who intimidate witnesses.  What's missing from this list? The District Attorneys office, which Abraham headed for so many years.  The hearing was part of the aftermath of the Inquirer series which chronicled the dimissal rate, using data from the justice system it analyzed via computer-assisted reporting.  Abraham disputes the statistics in the series, but had none of her own to rebut it.  She said she doesn't play "the numbers game."
