It turns out there were at least three people in the Commonwealth who believed that state Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams had a chance to be governor. As the Inquirer
reported today (June 23) three executive with a Bala Cynwyd financial firm gave Williams about $5.4 million to help him in his race for the Democratic nomination for governor. Their motives were altruistic. The three favor alternatives to public education -- such as charter schools nad vouchers -- and Williams has long espoused the cause of charters. Williams ran a distant third in the Democratic primary. There is no limit on campaign contributions in Pennsylvania.
