The latest Franklin & Marshall Poll confirms everything you've heard from friends and family about how things are going. In a word, lousy. The poll, released Thursday (Aug. 26) shows that only 30 percent think the state is on the right track, while 58 percent say wrong track. According to poll director Terry Madonna, that's the lowest right track rating in 15 years. Asked what worries them the most 35 percent reply: the economy. And 33 percent of the respondents say they are worse off financially this year than last year. Add it up and what does it mean? Good news for Republican candidates, such as Pat Toomey and Tom Corbett, and bad news for the Democrats. President Obama's job approval rating is in the tank in the state: only 37 percent give his an excellent or good job rating, compared to 63 percent who say his performance is only fair or poor.
